Guidlines for online registration for passport.

1. Eligible Applicants can do online registration for applying for Passport.
2. Use Crome Browser for doing Online Registration as it is the fastest.
3. Don’t use Special characters while entering details in the Online Registration form.
4. The Dates can be entered as per the format given in the website (DD/MM/YYYY).
5. As all the details are filled in press “SAVE” to get the ARN number, Date and time of Appointment and also the provision to take the print outs of the Application Form.
6. Note: Pl note that the data once registered cannot be modified, so ensure that you are entering the correct data while doing Online Registration.
7. In case if you have registered wrong data, you have to register again with the correct details and get the print outs with fresh ARN numbers.
8. There are still some columns in the application form which you will have to fill by hand. You will have to visit the concerned mission to submit the completed application form along with fee, supporting documents such as date of birth certificate etc. on the appointed day and time. The date and time of passport appointment at the Mission will be informed by the on-line system and will also be printed on the application form.

Integration with Police and India Post : The PSP network connects with the State Police across all the states and union territories. The applicant’s data is sent electronically for police verification. PSP also provides an interface to India Post for tracking delivery of passport to citizens.

Every PSK there will be some schedule at what time the database will be open for passport appointment booking. E.g. for PSK Surat it is 1 PM every day. You cannot try before that. Otherwise you will get a message same in the screen. Now if try from 1 PM time and able to view the next screen, then you can see the available slots. Simply you can click on a slot and further proceed for booking passport appointment.

 But the thing is not so easy. As many people try at the same time, so the database responds to them only who has a high speed or High Speed Broadband internet. For a general internet speed you might  not reach to that screen, but by the time you click and book a slot, some will finish the booking itself. So practically there is no such trick to get an appointment booking. But we have couple of choices or alternatives to get an appointment booked. Let's check them and try to find out whether they are useful or not.

    

 First thing you can do is to take high speed internet connection. If you don't have that or you cannot replace your existing one then find out among your friends. It will be a just 5 min task.

    

Always keep trying to log in before 5 min of actual time. Keep trying, although you will get the message. Because everyone will do the same

 If you are able to book a passport appointment, then in the next screen you have to fill up the captcha or verification letters. Don't be in hurry, fill it up very carefully. Remember if you miss a single word, then you will not get a chance to come back again. You have to try next day.

A day at PSK Gurgaon Delhi

Like many Indians, I too was reluctant in visiting the Delhi Passport Office to get some changes made in my and my wife's passport. I had heard all the time that work gets done only through touts and agents and that trying to get something done yourself is waste of time. Having faced similar challenges in other Govt offices, I always kept postponing my visit. When it was urgent for me to get those changes done, I started looking after agents. I could never trust promises of any agent and was reluctant in handing over my original passport to any of them. This kept delaying the process further. One early morning, while reading my newspaper, I realized that Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) is being opened in Gurgaon, Delhi and Gurgaon, Delhi people can get their passport work done from there without visiting Delhi Passport office. I thought I am lucky ans started smiling. But that smile lasted for few days only as withing 2-3 days I got reviews from that kendra in newspaper where people started complaing about facilities like no parking, no toilets, computers going down often and use of paper work as backup etc. I started going after agents again and lost few more weeks until one of my colleagues, Lalit Nagpal, shared his experiences where his application was processed within 2 hours at Passport Seva Kendra and everything was done electronically including taking his picture. This gave me some light of hope and I finally decided to go for it.

Happily I created online profile for myself and my wife. I created my application and took online appointment for a particular day and time for passport. I did the same for my wife but was disappointed when I did not get same time passport appointment for her. Her appointment was one hour later. Anyhow we decided to go together to passport office assuming they would allow us together being a couple.

We were at PSK Gurgaon, Delhi at 9:00am as per my schedule appointment letter and started struggling with parking. There was no space available and there was no public parking near by. I had to take the risk of parking on road. We showed our appointment letter to the security guard. He marked some token number on my letter but refused to do so for my wife saying he will do so after an hour. That was rude considering that both of us needed same changes and many original documents for her were shared one. Anyhow we got inside and stood in queue to get token. When my turn came, I handed over everything asked and guy issued me the token. Taking chances, I then gave my wife's documents to the person at counter and he started the process. We thought he would give us token and not us to wait. But at the end we were surprised when he said that he can issues token only after one hour. Well, I had to part away from my wife for few minutes. I handed over her documents to her and guided her how to get token while I went inside. Security man was doing great job at identifying who should be allowed to get inside and who not. As soon as I got in, I saw large screen displays with token number and corresponding counters where one should go. Mine was still not displayed. After 15 minutes, my turn came and I went to the counter. Lady at counter was very courteous and greeted me well. She completed all formalities keeping me comfortable all the time. All the documents were scanned and uploaded to my profile  She took my picture and asked me to validate all application details. She allowed me to make changes in address as per my documents. She took the fees and issued receipts. She printed application and made me sign. Everything was done in about 15 mins. She then asked me to go to another section and wait there for further instructions. I reached there and observed same pattern i.e. many counters and screen displays indicating which token at which counter. It took 30 minutes for my turn to come and only 1 minute for processing there. Then I was sent to last section where the passport officer validated my documents further and asked me to collect acknowledgement from exit gate. Throughout the process there were many people from TCS roaming around helping people who may feel lost. Overall the experience was good except for parking and not allowing my wife to go along with me. She had to get her application processed on her own with one hour lag.

Final recommendation: I give 4 star (out of 5) to PSKs and encourage everyone to use them instead of Regional Passport Office Delhi Psk Gurgaon.

How to Book Appointment to apply a Passport in India after successful application

Now It is very easy to apply for a fresh passport or reissue in India. Now one can fill Online application for fresh or reissue passport. There are several PSK opened by Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

A step by step procedure is given below for applying online passport and manage appointment:

Step 1: Logon to the passport seva website : http://www.passportindia.gov.in

Step 2: Create your account by registering yourself if you are a new user: Register Here for Passport Apply

or Login to the website with you user ID and Password.: Login Here for Passport Apply

Step 3: Fill the Application Form. You can fill the application in two modes offline and online

Fill Application Offline

Download the e-form by clicking on Download e-form Link available on the left side of the home page

Save the copy of the e-form to your computer/laptop

Fill up the application e-form

After filling the e-form upload it on the link provided after login in your account.

Take a print out of the application reference number (ARN)

Fill Application Online

You can also fill the form online after login into your account at the provided link.

There are following sections there to be filled and saved step by step.

Step 4: Book an Appointment


After successful application of passport online, your next step will be manage an passport appointment 
to visit local PSK for further proceeding. But this is not as simple as it look like and how to get passport appointment is still a huge problem. Although this facility can be availed only via online, but the time for slot booking is very less and at the same time many people try to book slot, so it's not guaranteed that whether you can get an passport appointment in one attempt only. There are few passport appointment tips to manage an slot but those are also not 100% proof. Let's discuss about this and find out how to get passport appointment online.

First of all, visit passportindia website and login with your login id. Then from the first screen click on "View Saved/Submitted Applications".

Now in the next screen you can see your submitted forms details.

For security reason, I have scratched the personal details. Here you can see your application details. Next click on the "Manage Appointment" option.

Now from here click on "Create Appointment" button in the right side.

Now here you have to select the PSK location and then fill the captcha in the box. Then click on "Show Available Slots". Now from here the interesting facts starts.

So after implementation of technology and improving the services actually the new passport application procedure has its own drawback. And brokers are always there to take advantages of such options. After filling application or uploading it take a printout of ARN. Now you have to book/ schedule an appointment at PSK (Passport Sewa Kendra).

Click on Manage Appointment link to schedule an appointment by selecting date and time for visiting Passport Sewa Kendra (PSK) available for yor area.

If the time slot is available in PSK then it will display the time slot. Choose the time slot as per your convenience and finalize it and if all the time slots are full then you have to wait for the next availability. Check the message in RED and try again later.

Step 5: Print Online Appointment Receipt

After getting the appointment scheduled take a print out of Appointment Slip and visit the PSK.

Step 6: Visiting Passport Sewa Kendra (PSK)

Arrive at PSK (Passport Sewa Kendra) 15 minutes prior to the schedule an appointment time with the following documents. List of the documents to be required at PSK.

1. Application Reference Number (ARN)

2. Appointment Slip

3. Self Attested Copy of ID Proof

It can be any of following

Voter Card, Ration Card

4. Self Attested Copy of Residence Proof

5. Self Attested Copy of Date of Birth Proof (Matric Certificate, DOB Certificate)

6. Self Attested Copy of Marriage Certificate (If you are going to register your spouse name first time)

7. Old Passport

(IMP: Please take all the documents with you in original at the time of Appointment)

Since 2012 Passport Application process has been changed to online. After conversion in the process of Passport application process it seems very easy in application. The process was very successful exactly after conversion but now a days it looks failure of Ministry of external affairs. Online form fill up is very easy but Booking Passport Appointment is the most toughest job. Previously in the older application process every district has their own application submitting center but according to the new rules you have to submit your documents only to your preferred PSK. But the most good thing is that you only have to visit once to the office if your all the documents is ok. No need to stand in queue from the morning, visit exactly at your appointment time. But Online Passport Appointment Booking is a tricky part. It is not possible for everyone to get it. Even a technical person also fails to book the slot. So I am going to share Some Passport Appointment Booking Tricks.

Passport Office has now started Passport Seva Kendra which gives you a changed experience in applying for a fresh or reissue passport. It is opening in different cities of India. I live in Lucknow. I went to Passport Seva Kendra Lucknow to update my passport.

First of all I need to get an appointment from passport website http://www.passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/welcomeLink. Create a login there and then download passport application. After filling the application you can upload it or you can online fill application. Once application is filled offline or online, you can get a Application Reference Number (ARN). Then you need to take an appointment which is a very difficult task in itself. When appointment link is open (it is closed sometimes), you can try to take an appointment after 4pm everyday. The trick is that only first 700 users get an appointment and time frame is only 0-2 minutes. You have to take the appointment between 4.00 pm and 4.02 pm. First you need to match your computer clock to be accurate. Then start trying after 3.50 pm and hopefully you get an appointment.

If you got an appointment you have a appointment number. Then you will take a print out of receipt and go to passport seva kendra with all relevant documents. They were asking for one year address proof in most cases so don't forget it.

In Passport Seva Kendra, firstly you have to enter into office on your appointment time. Then all your documents were checked and a token number is allotted after waiting in the queue. If you have less documents then you will be sent back from here and you have to take next appointment. You have to pass three types of counters A, B and C before getting the acknowledgement of your application. Fee is submitted and documents were scanned at counter A. Documents checking at all counters. It will take around 2 to 3 hours for the whole process to complete. Passports were delivered after 10-15 days after this process. So, only taking appointment is a pain area. Also you can walk in without appointment but it is applied only in some cases and the walk in time is 9 to 11 am.

How to - Online Passport Appointment Booking

In 2012 Indian government has changed the Passport application process. All type of application process has been converted to online from offline. All this online transformation has been done by TCS. Except this all the passport related work is done is TCS including appointment booking. The whole process has been developed by the Tata Consultancy Services including data entry and Manage appointment process. Now a days Indian public has to submit their application to PSK. Those PSK also developed by the TCS. Their is one good News for Indian public that this online process has cut the use of agents. But their is one problem that individual required an booked appointment in-order to visit PSK and this is the most tough part for application of passport. This is a tricky process and technology friendly person is required to do that. Even a technology friendly person will fail to do that. Now a days The place of agent is taken by appointment experts and they do this just in very reasonable rate. The no of slots for every PSK is very limited that's why this problem is happening. Today I am going to give you some Online Passport Appointment Booking Tips & tricks.

1. Create your acccount in www.passportindia.gov.in by clicking Register link under Online Application Filing.
2. Fill up the Passport Application form either of the two modes online or offline. To know the whole process of application of Passport bot in online and offline Click here.
3. Before submit the application verify all the details correctly because after submission you can't change the details. After successful submission you are not able to Passport appointment booking.
4. Click “View Saves/Submitted Applications” link, you can now see all the submitted application there. There is a limit of three application per account.
5. Select the appropriate application for which you want to book appointment and click “Manage Appointment” link and then click create appointment. Note: You can't select partially saved form.
6. On next step you have to select your preferred PSK and enter the CAPTCHA code (CAPTCHA code is automatic generated image code to verify that you are a Human not a bot). The CAPTCHA code is alpha numeric and remember to fill up CAPTCHA in capital letter. Last but not least try to make difference in 1(numeric one) and I(Digit i).
7. After filling up CAPTCHA, Now your exam starts for Booking Passport Appointment.

Trick: Online Passport Appointment Booking

Now its time for slot booking.

1. Before trying for a slot First of all set your PC time with www.passportindia.gov.in. Here even a second matters.
2. After filling up CAPTCHA click on “Show Available Slots” exactly at your slot timing. To know your PSK timing Click New Passport Appointment Booking Timing.
3. In next step you can see the various times in the 15 minute difference. Don't waste your time in selecting the time slot just click any of the above, Do not think twice and simply choose a slot immediately.
4. This is the most Crucial step in this step you have to write down the CAPTCHA again. Write down the captcha as soon as possible and click ENTER. If you are one of the Lucky person you will get the Confirmation with Appointment Number if not you have to try it once more next day at same time.

Note : 

• The System may become very slow during slot booking time as there is heavy rush of traffic in the website. So Try to book the slot from high speed broadband.
• Never click back/ refresh buttons or you will automatically logged out from the site.
• Never try to book a slot from 2 places from 1 id otherwise you will automatically logged out for MULTI login.
• If your browser is stuck in Final page and its loading loading & loading then after 2 minutes close the window, login again and check whether your  slot has been booked or not. This happens due to huge load in the server of Passport Seva, so your slot gets booked but server unable to forward the response.

New Passport Appointment Booking Timing

The Passport Appointment booking timing for all the PSK has been changed from 22 may 2013. Due to the very Heavy traffic at the time of Appointment Booking, the government has changed the timing of every PSK. How To Book Appointment For Passport And Apply Online?

Passport Appointment and  Application process has now become online. No Passport office in India is accepting hard copies of application. Tata Consultancy Services maintaining the official website of Passport seva of government of India. This change is very helpful for the people who is technology friendly but for those who is not so technology friendly this is a problem. They face problem in Passport Appointment Booking and Application. So, I am posting some guidelines to help your passport appointment booking process easy.

How To Book Appointment For Passport And Apply Online?

Visit http://www.passportindia.gov.in the official website of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India

1. Registration:

Registering to the online portal with a valid email ID (Not mandatory but for complete registration)  before proceeding with Application fill-up process.

i) Click on “Register” link under “Online Application Filing” headline.
ii) After that fill up required details as shown in the picture below.
iii) After registering yourself successfully, a “Thank You” message appears for registering on the Passport Seva web Portal & an activation link is sent to your given email address.
iv) Click on the link came to your email to successfully activate your account.
v) Your account will be activated & this will complete your registration process. 

2. Login:

i) Now login as an existing user(You have already registered in the previous step) by clicking the “Login” link.
ii) Give your Password and write down the captcha and then click login button

3. Passport Application:

First click on the Apply for Fresh Passport / Reissue of Passport

There are 2 alternatives :

i) You can download the soft copy of the form, fill it offline, up-load the filled form.
ii) You can also fill the application form online.

I will guide you both the process, Starting with online Process.

ONLINE APPLICATION PROCESS

Filling up the Application form online is a very easy job. A sample of online form is given above.

Just fill up the form with the appropriate details then click Save my details and then click “Next” after successfully filling up every page. You can leave your application unfinished & continue filling it the next day just click Save my details before leave. Once you submit your application, you won’t be allowed to change anything.

OFFLINE APPLICATION PROCESS

Step 1: Click " Download e-Form " under services tab in the left hand side below Applicant Home tab. Now download the e-form by clicking the link in the image below
Step 2: After download the application form right click on the downloaded zip and click extract here.
Step 3: After extract open the form Fill it correctly in CAPITAL letter.
Step 4: Now its time to save the form but cross check it before saving. Now click " validate and save ". After click a warning pop ups The form data will be saved click " ok ". It will generate a xml file. Save it and remember the path of the xml file.
Step 5: Now again login to passport seva website and click upload e-form just below download e-from.
Step 6: Choose the xml file by clicking " Choose File " and click upload.
Step 7: If you have done everything correctly then you will get the confirmation Your form has been submitted successfully.

4. Manage Appointment for Passport:

Passport appointment Booking is the most difficult part in the application process. First thing you can do is to take high speed internet connection. If you don't have that or you cannot replace your existing one then find out among your friends. It will be a just 5 min task.

Some Important Information regarding Passport Appointment Scheduling. This tips are generally for kolkata Psk. Every Psk having their own rules & regulations:

i) The appointment window opens & hardly lasts for 2 minutes.
ii) You are allowed to schedule an appointment 6 days a week for kolkata PSK (Every Psk having different rules for this).
iii) For normal mode appointment slots will opened for 5 days and for TATKAAL mode the slots will opened for 1 days.
iv) You will get only one chance in a day to book the appointment.
v) Back buttons are disabled while navigating between the appointment pages.
vi) Reload/Refresh buttons are also of no use in that page.
vii) You will get logged out if you got multiple login

Tips & Procedure:

1. The most important thing you would like to be sure about, the correct time to login to the portal for your respective PSK. Not all PSK's release their online passport appointment booking at the same time. Know your PSK's timing Visit : Passport Appointment opening time .

2. Once you know the PSK timings, you need to adjust your system(desktop/laptop/etc.) timings.
Check on the top left hand side of the PSK website, you will find the HH:MM:SS, match your system timing to the closet possible mill-second. It can be little tricky as the PSK clock timing is not continues but after you try for two to three times, you can crack it.
You may think I am a stupid asking you to do such silly stuff but believe me it will certainly cause a difference, as the online passport appointment booking open exactly at 01:00:00 (for Surat PSK) but if your system clock is behind the PSK portal time you will be late in clicking the 'Show Available Slots' button.

3. Ensure you have high speed internet connection but that's not all. And recommend use google crome only because it is the most fastest browser. But Passport seva authorities preferred internet explorer but I preffer Crome only.

4. Now that you are in crome , use the incognito browsing mode(In Private). It will disable all the unnecessary add-ons, cutting the webpage load time.
If you are using proxy, remove it. However you would know best, use proxy or no proxy for your connection settings.
Try avoiding being behind the company/institute firewall, as they are configured to scan all incoming and outgoing data, which may cause delay. Use your home connection(high speed internet) instead.

Okay we have configured the system and tools as required. Now the following steps for the PSK portal.

5.  Login to the portal at least 10 minutes in advance. Starting from the time you are asked to enter the first CAPTCHA(in password screen) make sure you got the CAPS ON. In all the following screens the captcha's will appear in cap letters only, helps you to save time and avoiding mistake of entering the captcha in small case.

6. Keep doing something in portal page, to avoid auto logoff. I prefer going to the webpage which has the drop down for the PSK centers and Show Available Slots button, and then keep entering the captcha and hitting enter button to avoid logging off.
Then at the final minute (XX:59:00) I enter the captcha for the last time and wait for the magical number to appear on the clock. I told you in Step 2, it was not silly. You know the importance now.

7. So once it's time, just click on 'Show Available Slots'. You will be taken to the next page where you will see the available slots; down below in the screen in BLUE color. Do not waste time deciding which one to choose, just pick any of the slots. Here you do not have the privilege to pick and choose; important is to the book the passport appointment...what time you get it; is not important(remember it's a rat race). One very important thing to note, you will see the captcha box appearing in this screen as well, but do not bother to fill it. In this screen you just have to click on one of the time slots available, that's all.

8. Next screen will be a summary screen, giving details of the time slot you chose, etc. etc. (DO NOT START READING IT, until you think you did something wrong). Remember you are not done yet, the passport appointment is still NOT BOOKED. So, as soon as you are on this screen, enter the captcha (it is required in this screen) and then start clicking on the Book passport Appointment button(you need to continue clicking the book passport appointment button multiple times). At times even after you have clicked the Book Appointment for passport the status bar will just get stuck and nothing will happen and when frustrated you click for the second time, the annoying message reading "Appointment slot has been booked ......" will appear.
Basically, your hitting of the book passport appointment button regular keeps pushing your application number to the server again and again. (I have personally experienced both the situations, mistake of not hitting 'book appointment' regularly and by doing this and celebrating).

9. If all works fine, you will see the confirmation in GREEN and if you are unlucky GREY.

10. Hope my experience, which I gained from my suffering, helps you all as well. Golden rules:
BE PATIENT. It will be long before you finally crack it. It took me 2weeks to be successful.
Remember PRACTICE MAKES A MAN PERFECT. You may(will) not be able to book passport appointment the very first time, but relax and learn from the mistakes and delays.

5. View Application Status Online:

To get the current status of your application :

i) Click on “Track Application Status” on the left side of the passport seva portal.
ii) After complition of process at PSK you wil get the file no. Enter that file number along with your Date of Birth & click on “Track” button.

6. Police Verification:

Always keep your phone with you because POLICE will you to your phone number mentioned in your passport application form. And be prepare all the documents asked by him. He will call you and tell you the date and time of the visit.

7. Passport Dispatch:

As soon as your passport is ready, you will get a Dispatch informtion (Speed Post tracking no) SMS in your mobile & will also get a mail in your email ID mentioning the date of dispatch & your passport number. So, give your correct mobile no and email address.

Except the passport Appointment booking process, all the steps are very simple. It doesn't required very high  computer knowledge. Managing appointment requires a bit technical knowledge with high speed internet & your own typing speed. But with some patience it is easily achievable.

The online passport appointment booking system is introduced to reduce the crowd from the PSK.

Now a days crowd from the PSK is cleared but  the public having more harassed from this because most of the Indian public are not so much computer friendly. Even the computer friendly user’s also not able to get passport appointment online. Indian government also made call center for information about passport application but it is completely useless because when you ask about documents they will give you information about passport application but it is completely useless. Now you will ask Why ?????
I told this useless because when you ask about documents they will give you clear information but when you ask them about some issues regarding documents they always says " Final decision passport authority karegi ". Then why they hell created this just to waste our money. It would be much better if they record the documents info and feed them in server at-least they will able to save the cost of call center setup. The Online Passport appointment booking for Bhopal, Dehradun, Goa, Hyderabad, Ameerpet, Tirupati, Begumpet, Nizamabad, Toli Chowki, Vijaywada, Jammu, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, Srinagar server are the most Toughest server because at 4 PM server gets too slow even the appointment experts also unable to see the time slots so how can an individual will book the appointment online. Many online sites are offering hacking software & hacking tricks which guarantee the appointment booking. The cost of the software is 15000 for single user. May be this type of slow server is the cause of those software & hacking tricks. I am going to describe a step by step process " How to apply for a passport and manage appointment".

Step 1: Visit the http://www.passportindia.gov.in from your browser.

Step 2: Click register in the upper right hand side of the site.

Step 3: Fill up the given form in CAPITAL letter and again click register in the register. You will get the confirmation " You have been registered successfully ".

Step 4: Now click home in the upper left hand side of the site and then click login just below register in the passport seva website.

Step 5: Now fill up the User id which you have created in the register process and click continue.

Step 6: Enter the Password and Captche ( Reasoning Picute) and click continue. Now you have to fill the Passport application form. There are two types of application process. Online and offline. I am going with offline as it has many benefits but I am not going to explain it now.

Step 7: Click " Download e-Form " under services tab in the left hand side below Applicant Home tab.

Step 8:Now download the e-form by clicking the link in the image below.

Step 9: After download the application form right click on the downloaded zip and click extract here.

Step 10: After extract open the form Fill it correctly in CAPITAL letter.

Step 11: Now its time to save the form but cross check it before saving. Now click " validate and save ". After click a warning pop ups The form data will be saved click " ok ". It will generate a xml file. Save it and remember the path of the xml file.

Step 12: Now again login to passport seva website and click upload e-form just below download e-from.

Step 13: Choose the xml file by clicking " Choose File " and click upload.

Step 14: If you have done everything correctly then you will get the confirmation Your form has been submitted successfully.

Step 15: Your next work is to get the appointment. For getting the appointment just call us at 8001645417. We book appointment for all over India.

Step 16: Once we will book a slot for you take a print of the appointment and reach PSK with all the documents and fees in cash. Now I am going to disclose some internal matter of the PSK. They tell everyone to report sharply to the PSK but always visit the PSK 30 minutes late so that you don't have to stand in a line.

One more thing that don't forget to carry additional documents.

 OK, now I am going to explain the trick of Booking Passport Appointment Online. First review to keep in mind this tips.
1. Manage Passport Appointment page : Type the code carefully on Manage slot page make a difference between 'Zero' and 'O'.

2 Time slot page: Use the Morning time or evening time it remains much free.

3 Booking a slot: Book the slot fast by writing down the Captcha as fast as possible.

4 Use a High internet connection :Use a good 3G network or Broadband connection atleast 4 mbps speed otherwise you remain last like your slow connection.
5 Match Passport seva web portal server time on your computer with seconds for better result in getting a slot.

6. Log in to the site in Sharp 30 minutes before your slot timing.

Use windows 7 or XP Don't install hi graphical software on the system ,it may slow down your system and and as well your internet speed too and close all your downloads and system updates otherwise they will eat all your bandwith. And  i suggest you use Crome browser as it is most fastest.

Points to book a Slot at the PSK.

First of all login 30 minutes prior to the time of slot given at the passport seva web Portal.
The faster internet speed you have the better and faster chances you book the Passport appointments.
Try attempting at multiple tabs i.e. try opening 2-4 tabs in your browser and login in all the tabs. This is because you can simultaneously have a number of attempts.
You might be probably aware that you have to enter captcha code while making slot booking. Keep entering the same several times so that you are not idle and this increases the activeness of your account so there is no chance of timed out.
During entering the captcha code, be aware of some alphabets like O (alphabet) and 0 (zero). These appear as simple mistakes but this will cost you much as because of this you will miss your passport appointment booking chance.
All the slots get booked within 20 min of the given time. For example, for the Bangalore center the usual timings are around 6 PM.
There will be many options like 9:30-10, 10-11,etc. try to select the last ones as many of the ones who are waiting for pasport appointments will select the first one in a hurry.
If in a hurry, even you select the first ones, you might probably get the message like ‘this slot is already booked’ after entering the captcha.

Inside trip of a PSK
Finally the D-day arrived, after securing my "online appointment", I am here today in front of the Passport Seva Kendra. I am so excited that I have arrived almost two hours before my reporting time.
(Honestly it is just not excitement, back of my mind I am thinking of those never ending long queue's in front of  Govt. office)

Whatever be the reason, I am here at Lalbagh PSK, Bangalore and surprise surprise....NO QUEUE!! Is the PSK closed today? Are they not entertaining appointments? What's wrong....

Okay, the good news...PSK's is NOT closed. I was impressed by looking at the architecture of the building, it does not have that historian Govt. office look(no betel spit marks on walls, not a rickety old building and no queue...outside the gate at least).

So, now starts the inside story of the PSK:
(P.S. I applied for a fresh, normal passport. Procedures are different for all passport types).


1. Once inside, you get to sit/stand in a waiting area, awaiting your batch number to be called(this number will be mentioned on the appointment printout), make sure you know your batch number.
The sequence number is not important, actually it is just a pseudo number.

2.  As I was early to the PSK, I had to wait for almost 1hour 30minutes for my batch number to be called out. But boy oh boy....even Cinderella would not had been so punctual, the clock ticked 02:00PM and they called my batch number.
Walked with the crowd from the waiting area to a next hall where tokens are to be issued. Time for the first queue....but it is a fast moving queue.

3. Okay, this as per me is the most important halt. If you fail here, oops...all your struggle is gone in vain. You fail to produce correct documents here...you will not be allowed inside. In short this token issue is your passport to getting a passport.
So, make sure you have all possible documents with you, both original and photocopy. They can ask for anything, there is no set rule. So when they ask, you should have it....otherwise you are asked to leave and guess asked to come next day.
Luckily I had all required documents...hurray I got my token(it is a paper slip, token number written on left side, it should be something like N XXX, where I think 'N' is for new).

 4. After getting the token, second waiting area....but it is swift here. You will see token numbers appearing on LCD's with associated counter number. Pleasantly, there are few floor wardens around as well to guide you.
To my amazement, with in 2minutes  my token number was displayed and I walked in to the counter.

5. Here verification of the original documents will happen, then the passport form details will be cross checked with you, on spot photograph will be clicked, finger/thumb print scanning, self attestation of documents and fee submission.
You will be handed over a file containing the documents you had produced and required for verification in the next segments. Also, a fee receipt - preserve it safely.

 6. Now go to third waiting area, the wait time is comparatively high here. Once the LCD displays your token, walk to the assigned counter. Third time verification of you, your originals and the information forwarded internally from the previous two teams.
All's good...go back to waiting area and wait for GTO(Granting Officer) verification.

7. Yes, you guessed it correct, the wait time goes up little higher but not that significant....so stare, stare and stare at the LCD again...for your token number to appear.
Finally, my turn. GTO verifies anything that might have slipped out in the earlier sections(you are nervous now) if everything is perfect, ticks on your file and piles it on the ever growing bundle. BUT and a big but....if he/she is not satisfied, you will be sent to the APO(Assistant Passport Officer...I think), for which you need to wait again.
Not sure of what happens at the APO chamber, I was lucky to be through the GTO.

8. Just before you see the EXIT and jump out...do not forget to collect your Acknowledgement Receipt. So, bring out your fee receipt(ah ahhh...i asked you to preserve it safely) and push it through the counter window. You will be handed over an acknowledgement. Scrutinize for any error.

Well that was my trip to the PSK...kind of refreshing experience in a Govt. Office. Well organized and considering the work volume they handle...exceptionally quick.
